How the Anadi fixed-term deposit works

A fixed-term deposit pays a set interest rate in return for leaving your money untouched for an agreed period. It is one of the simplest savings products there is.

Saving guide. Updated . About 2 minutes to read.

At a glance

  • Interest rate fixed for the whole term.
  • Money is tied up until the term ends.
  • Opened and managed online.
  • Covered by Austrian statutory deposit protection up to €100,000 per customer.

How it works

You choose an amount and a term, deposit the money, and the bank pays the agreed interest at the end of the term or at set intervals. Because the rate is fixed, you know in advance exactly what you will earn. Anadi's current terms and rates are published on its official fixed deposit page and in its savings rate calculator.

Who it suits

Fixed-term deposits suit money you are certain you will not need for the chosen period, for example part of an emergency fund you have already over-filled, or savings for a purchase on a known date. If you might need the money at short notice, an instant-access savings account is more flexible. Our comparison helps you split between the two.

Opening one online

  1. Pick the term and amount in the official savings calculator.
  2. Apply online and complete identity verification if you are a new customer.
  3. Transfer the deposit from your reference account.
  4. At maturity, the money and interest are paid back to your reference account unless you arrange otherwise.

Tax on interest

In Austria, interest on savings is subject to capital gains tax (KESt), which Austrian banks normally deduct automatically. If you are tax resident elsewhere, different rules may apply; check with a tax adviser.

Is my money protected?

Deposits at Austrian banks are protected by statutory deposit guarantee up to €100,000 per customer per bank. See deposit protection in Austria for how it works.

Questions readers ask

Fixed-term deposits are designed to be held to maturity. Whether and on what terms early access is possible depends on the contract; check before you deposit.

Are Anadi fixed deposit rates fixed?
